In an area that is home to one of the world's leading centres for high-performance elite sport - Loughborough University - you will never struggle to find an opportunity to take part, learn and spectate! The new elite athlete centre and hotel is the perfect inclusive environment for team training camps for all athletes.
The university has supported a number of sporting legends including Olympic gold medal swimmer Adam Peaty, former marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe and Paralympic gold medallist Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson.
The university is also home to the championship winning netball Superleague side Loughborough Lightning.
Charnwood is also home to Leicester City Football Club's £100 million state-of-the-art training ground at Seagrave. In 2021, Charnwood Borough Council gave the club Freedom of the Borough in recognition of their outstanding achievements, including the lifting of the FA Cup in 2021.
Across the borough there are also many public and private leisure facilities and miles of open spaces and country parks. Some highly respected golf courses and horse riding opportunities are also on offer.
